Technology has become an essential part of modern education. From online research and educational applications to interactive learning platforms, digital tools have transformed how children learn and communicate. While these innovations offer many benefits, excessive and uncontrolled screen time can quietly affect a child’s overall development.

Research continues to show that prolonged screen use may contribute to reduced attention span, poor sleep quality, eye strain, limited physical activity, and increased dependence on digital entertainment. Children who spend too much time on screens often have fewer opportunities to engage in creative play, develop social skills, enjoy outdoor activities, and build meaningful relationships with family and friends.

The solution is not to eliminate technology but to use it wisely. Parents play a crucial role in helping children develop healthy digital habits. Setting reasonable screen time limits, encouraging regular physical activity, promoting reading, and creating screen-free moments during meals and before bedtime can significantly improve a child’s well-being. Simple family activities such as conversations, board games, storytelling, and outdoor experiences also help children build confidence, communication skills, and emotional intelligence.

Schools equally have a responsibility to model balanced technology use. Digital learning should enhance education, not replace critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, or real-world experiences. Children learn best when technology is combined with hands-on activities, meaningful discussions, practical projects, and active participation.

At Lagooz Schools, we embrace technology as a valuable educational resource while maintaining a balanced approach to learning. Alongside digital literacy, we intentionally develop creativity, leadership, communication, teamwork, character, and problem-solving skills that prepare our learners for life beyond the classroom.
